Some tips to get more from LinkedIn

10 Quick LinkedIn Tips

We go on LinkedIn regularly. We may issue posts, for ourselves or our brands. Either way, here are some tips to help.

1. Consider your target audience.

Before you post anything, think about who the content is for and tailor your messaging to that particular audience. Sounds obvious, but often overlooked.

2. Don’t Worry About Your Like-o-Meter

Some people and brands get a lot of likes on posts; others less so. This says more about who they are and their connections than their message on the whole.

As long as you are delivering the posts that are aligned to your goals, worry less about how many likes you get.

3. Engage with your audience.

Instead, make sure you do engage with any comments that you do get. Or if you prefer, ask questions that can spark comments.

4. Be genuine, not salesy.

Ok, so social media is all about self-promotion. But that does not mean flogging your products to death. Share stories. Share content. Share ideas that your audience will want to hear.

5. Be easy to read

You may have noticed a trend. Short paragraphs and emojis.

We skim read. So, make your posts easy to read and digest quickly.

6. People matter

It is a fact. LinkedIn posts from people do better than brands. So, find ways to help your staff post more. Give them ideas.

7. Refer to people

Don’t overdo this point but using @someone in your post can add value. If it is used for the right reason rather than @someone for the sake of it. Even if it is people you work with – it all helps.

8. Be consistent.

Have a consistent look and feel to your posts.

9. Know when

Whether this is true for the mortgage market, but generally Wednesday, Thursday and Friday is the best day for LinkedIn posts. But earlier in the day is best and avoid Friday afternoons.

10. Observe and adjust.

Don't get discouraged if your posts don’t initially get the level of response you hoped for. Make adjustments and continue to improve with each new post you share.
